Afribank Nigeria Plc is one of the leading banks in Nigeria in terms of both assets and profitability. It is arguably the most diversified financial conglomerate in Nigeria.In order to sustain its competitiveness as a financial conglomerate with global influence, the Bank found the need to enhance customer service, improve content management of its important client documents and enterprise integration.
Business Situation
Relying on paper was inefficient.This reliance increased the time required to access important documents and the difficulty for individuals to collaborate on them.Disparate systems reduced the efficiency of information access if managed separately; since information tends to cut across functions.
Much of electronic content which was circulated by mail ‘cluttered’ mailboxes, and server storage through multiple resending, thereby impacting on system performance. It became clear that it was a challenge they were facing which would not support the organization’s new initiatives requiring collaboration across the different 250 business offices of the Bank.
Solution
An internal survey was conducted to identify Afribank’s requirements.They needed a consistent, organized way to communicate and interact with content,processes and data. To facilitate this, INFOGRAPHICS chose Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007 which integrated more tightly with thier environment offering a portal, collaboration, search and document management functionalities and also improved security and access control.
The document management feature of the Sharepoint portal provides the version history of updated documents. This guarantees that the most up-to-date content is available for access while previous versions are retained for reference purposes in the document library. The portal acts as a good application integrator by aggregating necessary applications within a single view. List of existing application that were to linked included Internet Banking Server, Netscreen, Webserve,Treasury-wise,R4Win Globus Human Manager, RTGS,E-FAJB and Clearing System.
